There are several inexpensive transportation modes that you can try, such as a wagon ride, a carriage ride, a boat ride or the Monorail. At the Fort Wilderness Campground, an evening wagon ride is available at $8 per adult and $5 per child, while an evening carriage ride that can seat four adults is available for $45. The carriage ride is also offered at Port Orleans Riverside and Saratoga Springs Resort. For other ways to get around Disney World, you can catch the free Monorail and boat rides. Children can have pony rides for only $4 at the Tri-Circle D Ranch, located at Disney's Fort Wilderness Campground. Rides are available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are also other farm animals that children can see.
A visit to the Disney Wilderness Preserve is another inexpensive activity ideal for nature-lovers. The preserve protects the Everglades ecosystem which visitors can choose to explore either by taking a trail hike or a buggy ride. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children ages 6 to 17, as of January 2011. If you opt for the buggy tour, you need to pay an additional $12 per adult and $6 per child.
For golf enthusiasts, there are two mini-golf courses in Disney World that you can try for about $13 per adult and $11 per child. One is Fantasia Gardens located near the Hollywood Studios and Dolphin Hotel, and the other is Winter Summerland, near Blizzard Beach Water Park. If you go for a second round of golf on the same day, you can take advantage of the 50 percent discount.
Another option is to rent poles and go fishing. Any fish that you catch, however, needs to be released. Fishing poles can be rented at Port Orleans Riverside or at Fort Wilderness Campground. Pole rental costs $9 for the whole day, and the bait is included.
