How to Search for Cheap Motels

When traveling on a budget, discount hotels and inns are often widely sought after. On some occasion when you may not plan on spending a great deal of time in your room during your trip or just need a place to rest while waiting on a flight home, motels can be an affordable and logical choice. With the right online resources, you can find a cheap motel to suit your taste and budget.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit SideStep.com, a website that compares different travel search engines as well as the individual property websites for pricing information.

    • 2

Click the "Hotel" tab at the top of the page. You will see a "Where" box (type the city, address or property name you are looking) and a "When" box (specify your check-in and check-out dates as well as number of guests and rooms needed). A light blue box titled "Compare Sites" below will give you the option of comparing additional discount travel websites. Check the additional boxes of your choice and click on the orange "Search" button to the right.

    • 3

Scroll down the left side of the "Results" screen and click the gray box titled "Property." This will allow you to select the type of property in which you prefer to stay. Choices are "Hotel," "Inn" and "Motel." Click the boxes next to "Hotel" and "Inn" to remove them from your search results, leaving only motels.
