Go to the United Airlines website. Scroll down and click "Advanced Search" in the box on the left. Choose between round-trip, one-way and multicity flights. Enter your departure and destination cities. If your plans are flexible, click the "Search Alternate Airports" box for cheaper flights at nearby airports. Enter your departing and returning dates in the box provided.
Scroll down to "Search By" and click "Price." If you have available days on either side of your planned trip, click "Flexible Dates" to look for cheaper fares around the same time period.
Enter the number of adult, senior and child passengers. Under "More Search Options" choose between economy, business and first-class tickets. Do a separate search for each class. If you wish to request upgrades, choose which type from the drop-down menu. Choose your maximum number of stops.
Click "Search." Look through the displayed fares, or click on one of the fares in the box of alternative flight dates. Choose your flight and click "Select."
Enter your personal and payment information as prompted. Print out and save a copy of the confirmation page and email. If you prefer, call the airline to book your flight over the telephone. This may incur an extra fee.
