Wildlife enthusiasts can get a glimpse of the white-tailed deer, squirrels, Canadian geese, bald eagles, muskrats, and osprey that call the park home. Families can enjoy a tour of the Wolf Education and Research Center, where guests can observe wolves face-to-face.
Visitors can find the Bunk House Bed and Breakfast five miles from Winchester, past the Winchester State Park entrance on Forest Road. Guests can stay in an 1895 homestead log cabin or in bunkhouse accommodation. Accommodations at the Bunk House Bed and Breakfast do not include phones, televisions, or Internet service. Guests can enjoy area attractions, such as the Tractor Museum, which celebrates family farming and the CAT tractor. The Winchester Lake Lodge, located just across the street form Winchester Lake, offers cabins and lodge rooms in a nonsmoking environment. Amenities vary, depending on the room or cabin, and can include Jacuzzi bathtubs, swings, cast-iron stoves, cable televisions, and washers and dryers. The lodge provides a convenient location for visiting the St. Gertrude's Monastery and Spalding Visitor Center and Museum. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy nearby natural venues, including the Lewis and Clark Trail or Clearwater, Salmon, Snake, Lochsa, and Selway Rivers. Accommodations range in price from $60 to $100 per night, for double or single occupancy, as of December, 2010. The lodge does not accept credit cards, but guests can pay with money orders, cash or checks.
