Camping is an inexpensive way to get away and spend quality time with your partner. A weekend camping trip is the opportunity to do romantic activities together such as sitting beside a campfire, walking alongside a lake or river and/or going for a hike.
If you do not enjoy spending time outdoors in a tent, there are several campgrounds scattered throughout the United States that have cottages available for rent on the campgrounds. A cottage may be slightly more expensive; however, the activities available will most likely be free. A romantic weekend in a cottage or a tent will give the two of you time to relax, refresh and spend quality time enjoying each other's company.
A resort typically has several amenities included in the cost of the room such as pools, a spa, beach access and other activities. There are resorts in exotic locations as well as in tourist towns throughout the United States.
Many tourist areas popular for their beaches, such as Florida or the Carolinas, offer large discounts for visiting a resort during the off season. Have a relaxing dinner in the lodge while watching the skiers on the slopes.

Spend the entire weekend visiting a variety of museums, enjoy quiet meals together and take the opportunity to visit the places that most locals do not visit. Ask if there are discounts for locals.
Visiting typical tourist towns and/or attractions will usually mean there are several discounts. For example, plan to visit a large amusement park such as Cedar Point in Ohio or a Six Flags amusement park and find a hotel offering discounted rooms that include tickets for the park. Several hotels advertise packages for discounted rates on attractions such as zoos, amusement parks, water parks and/or aquariums.
Taking a road trip does not require a great deal of planning and these can be an inexpensive way to visit a place that you would not otherwise visit.
