Visit the hotels' website you are interested in or other hotel-booking engines to get an average price per night. In order to bid a reasonable amount for the hotel room, you must have an idea of the average price for the hotel. Visit sites such as Travelocity or Bookit, and enter the dates and location of the hotel you are interested in.
Visit and register with a vacation-auction site or booking engine that allows you to pick your price for the hotel room you are interested in. For example SkyAuction allows you to bid in increments for various vacation packages and hotel rooms. Priceline allows you to select a hotel you're interested in and name the price that suits your budget.
Conduct a search by isolating either the specific hotel or the star rating you are looking for (1 to 5 stars). Place a bid for the hotel by starting at a price that is lower than the average price you found for the same hotel through previous research. If the hotel bidding amount exceeds the average price you researched, then you will be better off ordering from the specific hotel or your initial travel booking engine.
