White Beach is one of 32 beaches in Puerto Galera—one of the most developed resort areas in the Philippines. White Beach is full of seafood restaurants, bars and night clubs along with souvenir shops and tattoo parlors. During the summer and around Easter, rates climb by as much as 300 percent as vacationers from nearby Manila flood the area, but off-season you can find cheap hotels and cottages, many of them right on the beach.

Gray Wall Resort is a small 15-room hotel with modest rooms located on the beach in White Beach. The standard rooms have air-conditioning, Cable TV, and hot and cold water for showers. Air-conditioning is a big deal in this country where the weather is very humid. The deluxe room has the same amenities but is slightly larger and has a balcony. The resort has an outdoor pool, oyster bar and a buffet. The rates vary with the season.

The Franklyn Beach Resort is located in White Beach and is an inexpensive way to enjoy a holiday. If you liked the lodging on Gilligan’s island then you will like the Franklyn Resort style of lodging. The Native decor is just enough to keep the hot tropical sun out of your face and gives you something other then the ground to lay your head on. The hut-style rooms all have views of the ocean on a hilltop overlooking White Beach. Each room has a bed, ceiling fan, toilet and a shower. When you are not in your hut you can spend your time at the pool or snorkeling on the beach. This is an upscale version of what the natives call the “nipa hut”. Rates start at $35 as of February 2010 but will go up during Easter and the summer months.
