How to Avoid the Lines at Disneyland

Every time people think of going to Disneyland, they expect hours of waiting for just one ride. You can avoid long lines on popular attractions, however, by using some sophisticated strategies. So don't waste your precious vacation time standing in line and trying to decipher that wrinkled-up map of the magic kingdom. Think ahead, plan and save time.

Instructions

Decide on a day to visit Disneyland when crowds are sparse. Consider a day in the spring and fall or try midweek or a rainy day. If you go on days that fit one or more of these conditions, you may just have a no-line day at Disneyland without further planning.

Get into Disneyland 30 minutes before the opening time. The theme park opens the doors 30 minutes early so that you can get onto the Main Street only. Get your shopping out of the way right off the bat. During the first hour of operations at Disneyland, lines are short at the rides. Take your turn on all the popular rides.

Use Fastpass. This is a ticket you can get on some of the busier rides. If you see that the line for Big Thunder Mountain is long, insert your pass into the Fastpass kiosk. You'll be directed to return later in the day for priority access. You can only get one Fastpass ticket at one time, so choose wisely.
