How to Entertain Kids in Disneyland Lines

With an assortment of new rides and classic favorites, Disneyland is an exciting place to spend a day with your kids. However, because you'll be spending so much time waiting in line for these fun attractions, prepare an array of activities to distract and entertain them.

Instructions

    • 1

Give each member of your family a pad of paper and a pencil to see how many words they can make from the name, "Mickey Mouse" (or "The Happiest Place on Earth" if the line is particularly long). Let the person who makes the most words choose the next ride your family will go on.

    • 2

Check out the scenery around the ride. If you're waiting in line for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, for example, take turns making wishes and tossing pennies into the pond on the way to the loading gates. While waiting for It's A Small World, count the minutes until the clock opens to reveal the time and the parade of international dolls.

    • 3

Let your kids bring their hand-held video games, particularly units with wi-fi capability so they can challenge each other on their favorite game, and consider buying or renting a new game that will hold their interest.

    • 4

Put your child in charge of the park map and let him determine where you'll be heading next. Debate the route to the next land or how many attractions you'll be able to hit before lunch or the Fantasmic show, for example.

    • 5

Play a "create the story" game where one family member says, "Once upon a time," then another adds a word or phrase to follow it. Continue the process until the story is complete.
