Disneyland Park Tips

Despite the many Disney theme parks around the world, or perhaps encouraged by them, the original Disneyland in Anaheim, California, still attracts millions of visitors every year. It forms one of the destinations in a complete resort that also includes three hotels, a shopping complex called Downtown Disney and an additional park known as California Adventure. Following a few guidelines can make your visit more efficient and enjoyable.
  1. Birthday

    • Sign up for Disney's free birthday club. You not only get free admission to the park on your birthday, but you also receive a pin marking you as celebrant so Disney employees wish you happy birthday when they see you. Because this free ticket is worth the cost of a one-day park admission, you can upgrade it to a multi-day or annual pass by paying the difference. However, you need to upgrade before the end of the day.

    Parking

    • After you park your car in one of Disney's gigantic parking lots, you can easily find it on your return by taking a picture of its space location and name designation with either your regular or cell phone camera. If you do the latter, and you want to find the picture easily among the dozens you may have taken, send the photo to your cell number so that it appears in your list of messages.

    Lines

    • The first crowd encounter before you enter the park consists of the security lines for checking your bags. Most folks who leave the parking tram head for the lines in the middle. Invariably, this means the ones on the far left and far right are much shorter. When you enter the ticketing area, you'll find ticket booths with windows on both sides. If one side is crowded, step over to the opposite side. Also, just like with the security lines, most people cluster in front of the middle booths. You'll find shorter waits in the ones on the far right or left.

    Shopping

    • When shopping in one of the cavernous Disney stores inside the park, you can pay for your purchases at any of the cash registers no matter what department they came from. To save time, go to the register that handles the most expensive items like collectibles, artwork or jewelry. Because very few customers indulge in such high-priced baubles, the lines here tend to be the shortest in any store.
