Orlando Theme Park Tips

Orlando thrives on tourism and is famous for its plethora of theme parks. The most famous are Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, Sea World, Wet 'n Wild water slide park, and Islands of Adventure. Orlando's parks offer plenty of excitement and entertainment, but a trip to this fun-filled Floridian epicenter requires some advanced planning.
  1. Consider the Season

    • Plan to visit during low seasons. Orlando is flooded with tourists during the summer, so theme parks are crowded, particularly water slide parks. Visitors will experience long lines as well as extreme heat and high humidity. March and April are also busy tourism months because of spring break and Easter vacation. For milder temperatures, less crowded conditions, and lower rates, plan your visit in May or June, before the summer peak, or during the off-season in January and February. Hotel rates are also lowest at these times, making it easier to secure prime rooms at theme park resorts. Since temperatures are likely to still be warm, water slide parks can still be enjoyed, as well.

    Purchase Tickets in Advance

    • Save time and money by purchasing theme park tickets in advance. Discount tickets are available from Universal Orlando's website (see Resources below). A three-park ticket adds nearby parks, such as Busch Gardens, SeaWorld, and Wet 'n Wild water slide park. Expedia.com also offers a special ticket option and discount for Walt Disney World visitors (see Resources below). Manage Your Time

    • Don't overbook your days. To get the most from Orlando theme parks, give yourself a full day---or more---to enjoy your visit. Fitting in more than one theme park in a day is exhausting, particularly for parents. If visiting Walt Disney World, reserve a full day for each of its parks as each is big enough to keep you and your family fully entertained for the day.
