Tips on Staying at Disney Theme Parks

When you stay a Disney theme park, you have a world of options to choose, which can leave those planning the trip feeling overwhelmed. A few simple tips on how to plan your park visits, dining and safety can lead to a stay that is considerably more relaxed and memorable.
  1. Visiting the Parks

    • When you are staying at a Disney theme park, you have the option of taking advantage of Extra Magic Hours, and you should. Each day Disney opens one of the parks early and closes one late just for those staying at one of its hotels or resorts. During these hours, some of the top attractions are open for you to enjoy without the long lines and crowds. Taking advantage of the Extra Magic Hours leaves more time during regular park hours for shows and other attractions.

Another option for those staying at the parks is to arrive at your theme park of choice early and pick up Fast Passes for your favorite attractions. These passes allow you to skip to the front of the line and avoid the crowds. It is best to plan your day and decide exactly which rides for which you want to obtain a Fast Pass.

    Dining

    • When booking your stay at the Disney theme parks, you have the option of adding a Disney Dining Plan to your Magic Your Way ticket plan. This is the best way to enjoy all the dining that Disney has to offer while saving money. Options range from a basic quick-service counter plan to those that include celebration dinners and character breakfasts. Even with a Disney Dining Plan, Disney suggests that you make dining reservations 90 days in advance for all table service dining, dinner shows and dining events.

    Safety

    • To get the most out of your stay at a Disney theme park it is imperative that you are safe while you are there.

Be aware of the current weather conditions and dress appropriately, applying sunscreen and wearing hats, jackets and rain ponchos.

Stay hydrated. Bring along your own reusable water bottle and refill it as needed at the water fountains.

Make a plan with everyone in your party in the event that someone gets lost. This can include a designated meeting place (contact guest services for suggested locations). Make sure that young children have some form of identification on them, such as your cell phone number. Make children aware that if they should become lost, they should stay where they are and ask a cast member for help.
