Check the weather report for Anaheim, California, for the day you plan to visit Disneyland, and wear the appropriate clothing (see Resources below). Dressing in layers and stowing jackets inside a park locker will also prevent you from having to buy extra T-shirts or sweatshirts inside the park. Consult the Disneyland Resort website for park hours so you'll get the most for ticket price (see Resources below).
Research the height restrictions for Disneyland's attractions ahead of time so your younger kids won't be disappointed because they planned to ride one of the park's thrill rides like Space Mountain or the Matterhorn (see Resources below). If they are tall enough to ride, pack an assortment of snacks and activities to keep them occupied in line.
Learn more about the theme park by taking a guided tour. Inquire about the guided tour--which can include Disneyland facts and trivia, visits to some of the park's exclusive sites and lunch on Main Street--at the Guest Services office (see Resources below).
Schedule your meals for off hours for shorter wait times. Try lunch at 11 a.m. and dinner at 4 p.m., for example. Also try to go on rides in Fantasyland while the daily parades are in progress, drawing the younger crowd away from the busy attractions.
Use some of the rides as actual transportation to save yourself a little walking. Ride the Disneyland Railroad to get from Main Street to Toontown, for example, or take the Monorail for a quick trip to Downtown Disney.
Find interesting new activities if your family has visited the park several times. Explore attractions that you typically overlook, like the Enchanted Tiki Room or Tarzan's Treehouse. Play at Tom Sawyer's Island or even spend a few hours searching the park for "Hidden Mickeys" (see Resources below).
