Wanderlust World Wanderlust World - Men are required to wear ihram, a special garment for pilgrimage, consisting of two white, seamless pieces of cloth. One piece is wrapped around the waist and the other is draped over the shoulder, leaving one shoulder bare.
- Men must refrain from wearing any other types of clothing, including undergarments, hats, and shoes.
- Men must also avoid certain actions, such as shaving, cutting nails, and sexual activity, during ihram.
Tawaf
- Men must perform tawaf, the circumambulation of the Kaaba, seven times.
- Each circuit begins and ends at the Black Stone, a sacred stone embedded in the corner of the Kaaba.
- Men must walk counterclockwise around the Kaaba, keeping the Kaaba on their right side.
Sa'ee
- Men must perform sa'ee, the running or walking between two hills, Safa and Marwa, seven times.
- Men must start at Safa and end at Marwa, each time touching or kissing the Black Stone.
- Men must run between the two green markers on the ground during the first three and last four laps of sa'ee.
Prayer and Du'a
- Men are required to pray and make du'a (supplication) at various points during the pilgrimage, including at the Kaaba, Safa and Marwa, and Mount Arafat.
Animal sacrifice
- Men are required to sacrifice an animal, such as a sheep, cow, or camel, in Mecca.
- The sacrificed animal must be healthy and of a certain age and gender, and it must be slaughtered according to Islamic law.
- The meat of the sacrificed animal is distributed to the poor and needy.
Other requirements
- Men must be in a state of purity, both physically and spiritually, before performing any of the rituals of pilgrimage.
- Men must follow the guidance and instructions of the religious leaders and scholars who are leading the pilgrimage.
- Men must be respectful of the other pilgrims and avoid any acts that could cause harm or offense.
