Where did the pilgrims come from?

The Pilgrims were a group of English Puritans who left England in 1620 to escape religious persecution. They sailed on the Mayflower and landed at Plymouth in present-day Massachusetts. The Pilgrims were seeking a place where they could practice their religion freely. They established the Plymouth Colony, which was the first permanent English settlement in North America.
