Which European explorers visited Texas?

* Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca was a Spanish explorer who was shipwrecked on the Texas coast in 1528. He spent the next eight years exploring the region and eventually made it back to Spain.

* Francisco Coronado was a Spanish explorer who led an expedition into Texas in 1541 in search of the Seven Cities of Gold. He did not find the cities, but he did explore much of the region and met many of the Native American tribes who lived there.

* René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle was a French explorer who founded the first European colony in Texas in 1685. The colony was short-lived, but it paved the way for future French exploration and settlement in the region.
