Walk around the aircraft and inspect the airframe (body), tail assembly, propeller, lights and pitot tube. The pitot tube is on the underside of a wing and points towards the front of the airplane.
Tug the hook-and-loop fabric strap open, and gently tug the "Remove Before Flight" protector off the pitot tube. Look down the inside of the tube, to ensure there are no obstructions.
Pull any chocks out from the landing gear wheels. Many wheel chocks have tags that read "Remove Before Flight." Pull them out from under the wheels and set to the side of the hanger, or aircraft tie-down spot on the tarmac.
Open the left side door of the aircraft. Look at the yoke on the left side controls -- the captain's controls, or the Pilot In Command controls --- and see if there is a hard-wired tag that reads "Remove Before Flight". If present, gently pull out on the yoke, while pulling up on the wire. Pull the tag out of the yoke controls to release the yoke for flight.
