How to Visit Plymouth Rock

One of the most popular travel destinations in New England is Plymouth, Massachusetts, home to the famed Plymouth Rock. Now housed in a state park, Plymouth Rock is conveniently located near the Pilgrim Hall Museum, the country's oldest operating public museum. Visitors can step back in time and immerse themselves in Colonial history.

      Take Route 3 to Route 44 from Boston to the town of Plymouth, in southeastern Massachusetts.

      Follow Route 44 east to the waterfront. Go north along the waterfront (still on Route 44).

      Take a right onto Atterton Street.

      Take a left to the Forefathers Monument and park your vehicle right on site.

      Enjoy the view from the monument hill and take a picture in front of Plymouth Rock.

    Pilgrim Hall Museum

      Drive to Court Street, after viewing Plymouth Rock, to visit the Pilgrim Hall Museum.

      Check out the collection of 17th Century artifacts on permanent display, including household items, clothing and books.

      View the collection of American history paintings, featuring such artists as Henry Sargent and Jennie Brownscombe.

      Pick up a pilgrim souvenir at the museum gift shop.
