Read up about the festival. The more you know about the festival and where the different events of the festival are the held, the better you will be able to make your travel accommodations. Visit the festival website for all the up to date information.
Go with friends. A great way to save money on travel expenses and have a great time with friends is to plan a group trip. Sit down with the group to decide where you want to stay and all other travel details, you are ready to make reservations. Make sure to include old stand-bys in New Orleans - Pat O'Brien's, Cafe du Monde and House of Blues - in your plans.
Call your travel agent. A travel agent can take care of all the travel accommodations you and your friends need and can often find discounts and other great information about the festival for you to have when you are there. Hurricane Katrina changed much of the layout of New Orleans in 2005, so working with a travel agent is better than dealing with memories of previous trips you or friends have taken.
Arrive a day early. Arriving at the festival a day early will make checking in and travel quicker and easier. It will also allow you a day to get to know the area where the festival will be held and the area around your hotel. Remember, to look for the night hot spots and great restaurants to check out while you are there. There are great jazz, zydeco and rock clubs on every corner of the French Quarter.
