Mexican Restaurants in Detroit

The Michigan metropolis city known for jazz and blues music has its fair share of Mexican dining destinations. According to a Southwest Detroit Business Association figure cited in USA Today, almost half of all Detroit residents claim Hispanic heritage. Detroit's Mexican Town hosts a row of thriving Mexican restaurants serving traditional and authentic favorites like burritos, enchiladas and hot tamales.

    • One of the metropolitan Detroit area's oldest Mexican eateries, Mexican Village Restaurant is in the city's Mexican Town district. The restaurant's menu of traditional south of the border favorites includes such appetizers as quesadillas, guacamole and nachos, in addition to soup and salad selections.     El Zocalo Mexican Restaurant

    • Established in 1983, the El Zocalo Mexican Restaurant is named for a zocalo, a Mexican town square. Today the restaurant is in the center of Detroit's Mexican Town neighborhood. El Zocalo guests can began their dining experience by choosing among the restaurant's authentic Mexican appetizers like flaming Mexican cheese, chili with cheese and refried beans. Entrées include the usual tostadas, enchiladas and burritos, and more traditional dishes like picadillo, a dinner of beef hash topped with melted cheese.     • Los Galanes is a restaurant and nightclub in Detroit's Mexican Town.
