House Trailer Types

A house trailer is attached to wheels and is often pulled behind a road vehicle. These trailers provide lodging for families as they travel to different locations, and some include real homelike amenities, such as beds, kitchens, bathrooms and living areas. Trailers offer families the opportunity to travel without having to worry about booking a hotel or sleeping in tents.
  1. Airstream Trailer

    • The Airstream trailer is an aluminum luxury recreational vehicle manufactured in Jackson Center, Ohio. These trailers range in size from 25 to 37 feet long, and Airstream models include Sport, Classic Limited, Flying Cloud and International. The Airstream Sport is a lightweight, compact trailer that includes a bed, dinette, bath and galley. The Classic Limited is designed for full-time or long-term use, offering residential-style living. The Flying Cloud is a multi-use trailer with more than 11 different floor plans. The International offers panoramic views and maximum space efficiency.

    Hybrid Trailers

    • Hybrid house trailers function as both a hard-sided trailer and a pop-up. The advantage of using a hybrid trailer is that it offers a good weight-to-space ratio. While the trailer is moving, the beds are folded up into the sides, leaving space for riders to move about the interior. Once it's time for bed, the beds fold out, and campers are able to sleep comfortably. Companies that make hybrid home travel trailers include Starcraft, Forest River and Fleetwood.

    Hi-Lo Trailer

    • The "hi-lo" trailer can be folded in half to reduce wind resistance during trips to help save money on gas. The upper half is slightly larger than the lower and is folded down while a group is traveling. Once the group has set up camp, the top half can be restored to its original position. Companies that make these trailers include Coachman RV, Cruiser RV and Dutchman RV Manufacturing.
