It features riding camps for kids as well as many other outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, tubing and spa services. This is a great camp for those looking to improve their riding skills. Located not from Hill Country Equestrian, the Twin Elm Guest Ranch features riding trails, swimming and a more relaxing environment. Both are oriented toward families and youth.

    • The Hart & Hind Ranch offers guests healthy meals and long hikes to help vacationers get in shape. They don't like it when you call it a spa but there are massages and other spalike activities to help heal heart and body. The ranch does allow people to bring their own wine, but the emphasis at the ranch is to get in better shape.

    Working Ranches

    • Working ranches, such as Dixie Dude Ranch, have Texas Long horn steer, pigs and cashmere goats. They offer the opportunity to get out and experience the west like cowboys of yesteryear. Groups leave on overnight stays via horseback to ride out into the hills on a camping expedition. It includes setting up camp and dinner by an open fire on the range.

    Hunting ranches

    • Some ranches specialize in hunting activities. The Joshua Creek Ranch, for example, offers wing shooting. Partridge, chukar and pheasant abound on this 1,200 acre ranch. The ranch is also stocked with 10-inch-plus rainbow trout. And after a day of hunting and fishing, guests can practice their shooting on a 10-station sporting clay range.
