How many days does it snow in Antarctica?

Antarctica is the coldest, driest, windiest, and highest continent on Earth, and it also receives the least amount of precipitation of all the continents. Although Antarctica is surrounded by ocean, very little precipitation falls as rain or snow. Most precipitation falls as snow, and very little of it melts. Some areas go years without any new snowfall.

For example, the annual snowfall at the South Pole is only 2 inches. This is equivalent to about 5 centimeters. The average snowfall for McMurdo Station is 17 inches. This is equivalent to about 43 centimeters.

The total amount of snowfall across the entire continent of Antarctica is estimated to be around 2,000 cubic kilometers. This is equivalent to 500,000 trillion cubic meters.
