Who lives in the Arctic?

Many people, animals and plants live in the Arctic, including:

- Humans: The Arctic is inhabited by indigenous peoples such as the Inuit, Yupik, Siberian Yupik, Gwich'in, Saami, Nenets, Komi and Evenki. These people have adapted to the cold climate and challenging conditions over thousands of years and developed unique cultures and ways of life.

- Animals: The Arctic is home to various animals adapted to the cold, such as polar bears, Arctic foxes, Arctic wolves, seals, walruses, narwhals, beluga whales, reindeer and caribou. These species have thick fur and layers of fat to help them survive in extreme temperatures.

- Plants: Despite the harsh conditions, many plants can survive in the Arctic, including mosses, lichens, grasses and low-growing flowering plants such as Arctic poppies and saxifrages. These plants often grow close to the ground to protect themselves from the cold winds.
