What are rivers of ice?

Glaciers are rivers of ice. They are formed when snow accumulates and compresses over time, eventually forming a solid mass of ice. Glaciers slowly move downslope under the force of gravity, carving out valleys and depositing sediment as they go. Glaciers can be found in all parts of the world, but are most common in polar regions.
