Can Rapids freeze and keep their shape?

Rapids are sections of a river with fast currents and turbulent water. They are caused by changes in the riverbed's slope or underwater obstacles hindering the flow of water. Rapids cannot freeze and maintain their shape.

During extremely cold weather conditions, rivers may freeze over, including sections with rapids. However, since the water in rapids undergoes intense movement and agitation, it is less prone to freezing. Ice formation requires static conditions and cold temperatures, which rapids do not provide. Consequently, rapids stay in their liquid form even in freezing conditions, although the surrounding water may freeze.
