According to the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Food Safety Branch, a temporary food establishment permit is required for any establishment that:
* Prepares, offers, serves, or sells food not packaged in a hermetically sealed container.
* Operates for a period not to exceed 30 business days (calendar days) at a single location.
This includes lemonade stands.
The permit can be obtained from the local health department. The fee is $25.
In addition to the permit, you will also need to meet the following requirements:
* The lemonade stand must be located in a safe and sanitary location.
* The lemonade must be made with fresh, clean water.
* The lemonade must be stored at a safe temperature.
* The lemonade must be served in disposable cups.
* You must have a way to wash your hands.
* You must have a way to keep the lemonade stand clean.
Failure to comply with these requirements could result in a fine or imprisonment.
