Natural Resources of the Democratic Republic of Congo

DRC is rich in:

• Minerals: Copper, cobalt (world's largest), gold, diamonds, coltan.
• Oil: Reserves in Albertine Basin (eastern DRC).
• Water: Congo River system, huge hydroelectric potential.
• Timber: Vast forests (2/3 land area) with mahogany, ebony, iroko.
• Agricultural potential: Fertile soil, favorable climate, but hindered by infrastructure and conflict.
