How many trees are being cut down in the Congo rainforest each year?

According to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), approximately 1.3 million hectares (3.2 million acres) of the Congo rainforest are cleared each year. This is equivalent to the loss of around 16 billion trees annually.
