What it was named for cape may?

The name "Cape May" is believed to have originated from a Dutch explorer named Cornelius Mey. In 1620, Mey led an expedition to the Delaware Bay region and named the southernmost point of the peninsula "Cape Mey" in his honor. The name was later anglicized to "Cape May."
