Why did people build Great Zimbabwe?
Great Zimbabwe was built as the capital of the Kingdom of Zimbabwe. The city reached its peak between the 11th and 15th centuries, and at its peak, it is thought to have had around 18,000 inhabitants. The city was built in a strategic location on a hilltop, providing good views of the surrounding area and making it difficult to attack. Great Zimbabwe was also home to a royal palace and a number of other important buildings, such as temples, granaries, and workshops. The city was also the center of a trade network, with trade taking place with other parts of Africa, as well as with the Arabian Peninsula and India.
