The tradition, which started in 1933, is viewed every year by New Yorkers and tourist alike. If you can't make it to the actual tree-lighting event, visit Rockefeller Center during the holidays to view the tree and other Christmas decorations as well as to go ice skating in the Rockefeller Center ice skating rink.
