Who discovered Eritrea?
The concept of discovery as used by Europeans in reference to other places is problematic because it implies a hierarchical relationship in which the place discovered is somehow lesser or empty until interacted with by outsiders. While it is possible to trace the history and development of human civilizations throughout the region today known as Eritrea, it would be inaccurate to attribute its existence or recognition solely to a particular individual or event.
