Where are jungles found?

Jungles are tropical moist forests that are characterized by high temperatures, abundant rainfall, and dense vegetation. They can be found in various regions around the world:

1. Central and South America: The Amazon rainforest, located in South America, is the largest rainforest in the world. It covers an area of over 5.5 million square kilometers (2.1 million square miles) and spans across countries such as Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador.

2. Africa: Central Africa, including countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Gabon, and parts of Congo-Brazzaville, contains extensive tropical rainforests. The Congo rainforest is the second largest in the world after the Amazon.

3. Southeast Asia: Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia (Sumatra, Borneo, and Papua), Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines have significant jungle areas. The jungles of Borneo are known for their rich biodiversity, including orangutans, pygmy elephants, and clouded leopards.

4. Central America: Central American countries, including Costa Rica, Panama, and Nicaragua, have tropical rainforests that support a diverse range of wildlife. The Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica is known for its high concentration of plant and animal species.

5. South Asia: The Western Ghats and Eastern Himalayas in India, as well as parts of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, contain tropical rainforest ecosystems. These regions are home to elephants, tigers, and various other wildlife species.

6. Australasia: Certain parts of Australia, such as the Daintree Rainforest in Queensland, have tropical jungle areas. The island of New Guinea, shared between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, also contains extensive rainforests.

Jungles are important ecosystems that provide vital services such as regulating the climate, storing carbon dioxide, and maintaining biodiversity. They are home to a vast array of plant and animal species, many of which are found nowhere else on Earth.
