Lake Hortonia is located in eastern Vermont, south of Middlebury. Other small ponds and lakes such as Echo Lake, Burr Pond and Hinkum Pond are also in the area, providing many choices for outside recreation. Twenty-six miles away, Green Mountain National Forest provides opportunity for hiking, biking, camping and fishing. During the winter, skiing and snowmobiling are options in the cold.
The Middlebury Inn is located north of Lake Hortonia, and offers 70 guest rooms spread out in three buildings. The Historic Inn's has standard, deluxe and luxury rooms as well as suites. Rooms have double or queen beds. Luxury rooms are more spacious, with a pull-out couch, and refrigerator. Porter House has eight guest rooms and a luxury suite, with a large porch and rocking chairs. The Courtyard Annex offers rooms with double beds and queen pull-out sofas. You can also bring your pet into the Annex rooms. Breakfast is served in one of the conference rooms, and there is also a tavern for dining.
Applewood Manor Bed & Breakfast is in Castleton, about 20 minutes south of Lake Hortonia. At Applewood, you can choose between a room with a king bed, queen bed, or two double beds. The rooms are each unique and designed separately, but all have en suite bathrooms, reading chairs, and some rooms have a vanity. In addition to the activities of Lake Hortonia nearby, Applewood offers an outdoor swimming pool, a library, guest parlor, dining room and porch. A fireplace in the dining room provides some warmth in the winter during breakfasts.
At Edgewater Motel, you can choose to stay in the inn, in a chalet, condo apartments, efficiency units, or the motel. Most rooms have one or two double beds. Condo apartments and the chalet have full kitchens. All rooms have bathrooms, TV, and air conditioning as well as refrigerators (unless you are in the Inn). The motel lies on approximately 700 feet of beach, to which guests have full access. A restaurant is on motel property, as well as a boat launch, docks, swimming pool, and game room. Horseback riding and golf are both within a few miles.
The Lilac Inn is to the east of Lake Hortonia, and offers nine unique guest rooms, all of which have DVD players, TVs, private bathrooms and air conditioning. The Inn has Wi-Fi and provides a breakfast of pancakes, muffins, jam, juice and coffee every morning. Pets are allowed at the Inn for an extra fee. A bar and lounge operates on the property, as well as a restaurant. Every guest has access to a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and DVD library as well as storage for bikes, skis and sports equipment.
