Gaysville is a small community located in a rural area in the Green Mountains of the central part of Vermont. The main attractions in this area are outdoors activities such as fishing, snowshoeing, hiking and skiing. Central Vermont is also known for its colorful fall foliage.     • The Cobble House Inn is a bed-and-breakfast style hotel located in Gaysville. It has four individually decorated rooms with private baths. An 1860 Victorian hotel built on a hill, the Cobble House Inn has has two parlors, a wood stove and a covered porch that offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains. Guests receive a hot and homemade breakfast. Dinners will also be served upon request. Rooms start at $160 a night, as of January 2011, and gift certificates are available. Guests can fish, canoe or tube in the White River, which flows by the bottom of the property.

    Maple Leaf Inn

    • The Maple Leaf Inn, situated 10 miles driving distance from Gaysville in the town of Barnard, is located on a property with 16 forested acres. The building itself is a Victorian-style farm house. Barnard is a quaint village with country lanes and an old general store. Rooms start at $140 a night, as of January of 2011. Amenities in this bed-and-breakfast hotel include oak furniture and wood burning fireplaces. Some of the rooms have whirlpool bathtubs. A tavern and fine-dining restaurant is located within walking distance at the Barnard Inn. Canoes are available for rent at the Silver Lake State Park, which borders the eastern side of this small town.

    The Fan House

    • The Fan House in Barnard features three luxury rooms in its bed-and-breakfast establishment. The building has individually-decorated rooms and plush linens. Guests can request massages in their rooms. Rooms start at $175 a night, as of January of 2011. The owners of the Fan House will help guests arrange individual snowshoe tours in the surrounding area. Silver Lake State Park, where guests can swim, fish or boat, is a three-minute walk from the hotel. The Appalachian Trail is three miles from the Fan House. A full breakfast is served at a hotel with a wood stove in its kitchen and and a living room with a fireplace.

    Liberty Hill Farm

    • Located 13 miles north of Gaysville in Rochester Village, the Liberty Hill Farm received Yankee Magazine's Best of New England Editor's Choice Award in its 2010 travel guide. Opened in the mid-1980s, the property has 270 cows along with other farm animals. Guests receive a full breakfast in the morning and a dinner around a table at 6 p.m. Guests are also welcome to help out with various farm chores. Children, for instance, can collect chicken eggs and feed newborn calves. Cross-country trails can be directly accessed from the property. As of January 2011, rooms list at $98 a night for adults. Among the features in Rochester Village are an art gallery, antique shops and the Rochester Public Library and Museum.
