Was Egypt called the gift of Tigris because river brought life to region and allowed it thrive?

Egypt was not called the gift of Tigris. That title belongs to Mesopotamia, which is the region between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The annual floods of these rivers deposited fertile soil on the plains, making the region ideal for agriculture. This allowed the people of Mesopotamia to develop a thriving civilization.
