Youth Mission Trips to Africa

Going on a mission trip is a life-changing experience for a young person. Traveling to new places, learning about other cultures and helping the less fortunate, all while spreading the teachings of the Bible, can help a young person to learn and grow during a time when he is beginning to discover his identity. Many African countries are considered to be developing nations or third world countries, and so provide a wealth of opportunities for the youth or teen who wants to make a difference.
  1. Youth Quests

    • Youth Quests offers short-term mission trips for teens and youth groups. Ministers specialize in working with troubled teens. Youth Quests' mission trips focus on evangelism, building projects, assisting in orphanages, and humanitarian work. Most of the program's African mission trips are to Kenya, though Youth Quests provides the option to arrange travel to other African countries.

    Youth With a Mission International

    • Youth With a Mission offers both short-term volunteering opportunities and long-term training through its Discipleship Training School. This group does not have a central location; instead, contact the mission you are interested in working for, and arrange your trip from there. Youth With a Mission has more than 30 missions in Africa.

    Adventures in Missions

    • Adventures in Missions offers four-week trips to Africa for kids in high school, ages14 to 18, and semester-long trips for those of college age, 18 to 22. Destinations include Cameroon, Uganda, Kenya, Swaziland and South Africa. Mission objectives and activities differ depending on the location.

    Nations 2 Reach

    • Nations 2 Reach is the youth mission branch of World Outreach International. They offer short trips of one to three weeks, medium-term trips between one and three months, and long-term trips, along with medium-term internship opportunities. As of 2010, there are no short-term trips planned for Africa. Medium- and long-term trips and internships can be taken in Botswana, Burkina Faso, Egypt and Mozambique.
