What nationality are Azeris?

The vast majority of Azeris are citizens of Azerbaijan, a country located in the South Caucasus region of Eurasia. Ethnically, Azeris mainly belong to the Turkic people with significant minorities of Tats, Talysh, and Lezgins. Historically, the term Azeri has been interchangeable with the term Azerbaijani, referring to the people native to the region historically named Azerbaijan.
