No Country Lies Between Thailand and Vietnam

Thailand and Vietnam share a direct land border. There is no sovereign nation situated between them.

Geographically:

• Laos lies to the north/northeast of Thailand and northwest of Vietnam.
• Cambodia lies to the southwest of Vietnam and southeast of Thailand (but does not separate them).

The Thailand-Vietnam border runs roughly north-south through the Mekong River region and mountainous terrain. Both countries are members of ASEAN and maintain extensive cross-border trade and transport links.
