Joko Widodo is the current President of Indonesia. He was born on June 21, 1961, in Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia. He is the son of a carpenter and a housewife. He earned a degree in forestry engineering from Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta. After graduating, he worked as a furniture businessman. He entered politics in 2001 and was elected Mayor of Surakarta in 2005. He was reelected in 2010. In 2012, he was elected Governor of Jakarta. In 2014, he was elected President of Indonesia. He is married to Iriana Joko Widodo and they have three children.
