Why did Japan readily accept the Open Door policy?

Japan did not readily accept the Open Door policy. In fact, Japan was one of the countries that was most resistant to the Open Door policy. Japan feared that the Open Door policy would lead to the colonization of China by Western powers, which would threaten Japan's own interests in China. Japan also feared that the Open Door policy would lead to a decrease in its own trade with China.
