Saigon Tourist Attractions

Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is Vietnam's largest city. It's in the southern part of the country. The city offers many tourist attractions, such as outdoor markets, themed tourist parks and art museums. These attractions allow you to experience Vietnamese culture by shopping as the locals do, seeing Vietnamese works of art in museums and interacting with Vietnamese people at the tourist villages.
  1. Binh Quoi Tourist Village

    • The Binh Quoi Tourist Village in Saigon is modeled on a small Vietnamese fishing village, according to Lonely Planet. At the resort, tourists can go on boat rides, see water-puppet theater shows and play tennis on tennis courts, according to Lonely Planet. At Binh Quoi Tourist Village, travelers can listen to live traditional Vietnamese music and dine on buffet-style Vietnamese food. Tourists can also view traditional ethnic minority weddings, which take place at Binh Quoi Tourist Village, according to Lonely Planet.

    Ben Thanh Market

    • The Ben Thanh Market is Saigon's largest outdoor traditional market. According to Lonely Planet, the market, which is in the heart of the city, sells food, clothing, tools and spices. Lonely Planet also says the Ben Thanh Market sells traditional Vietnamese specialities, including weasel coffee. That's coffee harvested from beans in the excrement of a weasel. Lonely Planet suggests bargaining with the sellers. Prices, as of August 2010, tend to be inflated compared with other markets in Saigon.

    Fine Arts Museum

    • The Saigon Fine Arts Museum hosts many arts exhibits, several of which are unique to Vietnam. The museum features oil paintings, lacquer sculptures and other pieces of art created by local and foreign artists. The museum sells contemporary art, according to Lonely Planet. Additionally, the Fine Arts Museum features architecture, including tiled floors, according to Lonely Planet.
