Consult the schedule. The Ghan runs twice weekly from Adelaide to Darwin. The trip requires two evenings aboard the train.
Choose your class. The economy Daynighter seats cost around $555 one way. The Gold Kangaroo sleeper suites will set you back approximately $2,000 for the same trip.
Arrive at the station in at least one hour before departure to check your bags and present tickets to the conductors.
Get a window seat on the Ghan and take in the scenery. The route from Adelaide takes passengers past the MacDonnell Ranges mountains and through the red sands of the Outback before arriving in the beautiful northern city of Darwin.
Relax in style. Television sets and clean restrooms will make a trip aboard the Ghan a comfortable one.
Bring bedding and pillows if you've chosen Red Kangaroo service. This second-class sleeper service does not include bedding.
Minimize the luggage you bring aboard the Ghan. You may bring two items weighing no more than 40 kg total.
Verify your travel plans before booking a ticket. If you cancel less than seven days before departure, you'll only get a 50 percent refund.
