How to Book a Train Trip on Australia's Ghan Line

The Ghan train travels from Adelaide, on the southern coast of Australia to Darwin, a great northern city. Operated by Rail Australia, the 2,900 km trek is popular among travelers looking for something different. While most travelers head to Sydney or Perth, the Ghan highlights less traveled cities.

    • 6

Relax in style. Television sets and clean restrooms will make a trip aboard the Ghan a comfortable one.

    • 7

Bring bedding and pillows if you've chosen Red Kangaroo service. This second-class sleeper service does not include bedding.

Learn the Rules of the Ghan

    • 8

Minimize the luggage you bring aboard the Ghan. You may bring two items weighing no more than 40 kg total.

    • 9

Verify your travel plans before booking a ticket. If you cancel less than seven days before departure, you'll only get a 50 percent refund.
