Call Rail Europe at (877) 257-2887 to book accommodations on Croatian Railways.
Find current train timetables online at the Croatian Railways Web site (see Resources below). The site is fairly easy to navigate, and you can view times for specific routes and departure/arrival stations. You cannot book travel through this Web site, however, and parts of the English-version site are only in Croatian.
Get a Eurail Austria/Slovenia/Croatia pass or a Eurail Hungary/Slovenia/Croatia pass while you are in the United States. These will save you money when traveling by train to multiple destinations in Croatia. A number of Eurail-appointed agents offer these passes, which are available only to non-European residents.
Purchase your ticket before boarding the train, or agents will kick you off. Only at the rare unstaffed train halt can you purchase tickets on board for your travel in Croatia.
Travel on the cheap in Croatia by taking the train. Compared with Western European ticket prices, rail travel in Croatia is inexpensive.
Enjoy the mild climate on your Croatian trip. Croatia's Adriatic coast has a pleasant Mediterranean feel about it, and northern Croatia is quite temperate.
Be sure that your passport does not expire within 90 days of traveling in Croatia. The government considers passports valid only if the expiration date is 3 months past the date of travel.
Book direct rail trips from most European countries to Croatia, including Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and many others. From some countries, you may have to book a trip that includes a connecting train to Croatia.
Bring your bank or ATM card instead of cash to Croatia. The official currency is the kuna, and the plentiful cash-withdrawal machines found in most resort towns give the best exchange rate on foreign currency in Croatia.
