Why is sydney airport names kingsford smith?
Kingsford Smith Airport is named after Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, a pioneering Australian aviator. Kingsford Smith was born in Brisbane, Queensland, in 1897. He learned to fly in 1914 and served as a pilot in the Royal Australian Air Force during World War I. After the war, he became a commercial pilot and made several record-breaking flights, including the first flight from Australia to England in 1928. Kingsford Smith was killed in a plane crash in 1935.
In 1936, the Australian government named the Sydney Airport after Kingsford Smith. The airport is located in the suburb of Mascot, about 8 kilometres (5 miles) south of the Sydney city centre. It is the busiest airport in Australia and one of the busiest airports in the world.
