- attend and participate in the sittings of the Legislative Assembly

- may introduce and sponsor bills
- may ask questions of government ministers
- raise issues of public concern
- participate in committees of the Assembly
Political duties:
- assist in developing the policies of their party
- represent the views and interests of their constituents
- advocate for the needs of specific groups, such as those living rural or urban areas
- provide criticism of government policies
- hold government accountable for its actions
Constituency duties:
- meet regularly with constituents to hear their concerns and address their problems
- assist constituents in their dealings with government
- attend community events
- support local businesses and organizations
- promote tourism and economic development in the constituency
Additional duties may include:
- participating in party fundraising events
- attending functions and events organized by community groups
- meeting with representatives of other levels of government
- undertaking research and policy development
- writing speeches, press releases, and other communications materials
