Located in Southern Ontario between Hamilton and Buffalo New York, St. Catharines attracts visitors of all ages to its vibrant arts scene, fine dining and outdoors activities. The city is within 10 minutes of Lake Ontario and within a half hour of Niagara Falls, making it the perfect stop for the best attractions in the area. Along with the boating attractions on its waterways, the town offers a number of activities for all tastes and ages, such as wineries, nightclubs and theater.
  1. Hernder Estate Wines

    • Hernder Estate Wines offers daily wine tastings and public tours of the vineyards on the weekends. The winery features traditional white and red wine as well as Icewine, a special wine made from grapes left on the vine deep into winter and then are pressed while frozen. Guests may taste any wines, and are charged $1 per sample and $2.50 per Icewine sample. For $7 guests sample one of the higher end red wines and receive a wine glass to take home. The tours on the weekends are complimentary and occur at 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm both Saturday and Sunday.

      The winery hosts events, banquets and weddings throughout the year. The winery is open seven days a week from 10 am to 5 pm.

    L 3 Night Club

    • For some late night fun, the L 3 (Level 3) Night Club brings live music and a hip dancing scene to St. Catharines and the southern Ontario area. The club attracts touring bands of small size, including The Stills, The Dwarves and Shallow North Dakota.

      Every Wednesday is the club's Funk Night, which brings the best of funk music with drink specials all night. Saturday night is Ladies Night and there also is no cover charge on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The club promotes special events on holidays, such as St. Patrick's Day and New Year's Eve. All club guests must be over the age of 19.

    Carousel Players

    • The Carousel Players presents children's theater entertainment appropriate for families with children ages 4 and older. Past performances include "Danny, King of the Basement" a play that helps teach children about the issues of poverty and homelessness, and "Rocket and the Queen of Dreams," which blends puppetry with live performance.

      The company also offers summer youth theater programs that last for a week. The six programs offered each summer include acting, improvisation and puppetry courses.

      The company was founded in 1972 and serves much of southern Ontario, performing at Sullivan Mahoney Courthouse Theatre in St. Catharines, and also in schools and festivals.
