The Village of Stittsville throws lively community parties throughout the year for the pleasure of residents and visitors. The year's lineup begins in spring with the annual Artists and Authors in the Park at Village Park. A dozen professional artists and writers gather to share work and celebrate artistic traditions. Stittsville Canada Celebration on July 1 is jam packed with music, food, children's activities, demonstrations and fireworks. VillageFest highlights the autumn calendar with food, games, music and the Firefighters Pancake Breakfast. In November, thousands of spectators gather along Main Street when Santa ushers in the holidays during the Parade of Lights.
Stittsville visitors pursue active fun at Goulbourn Recreation Complex. Public swims, skating and and gym facilities provide individuals and families fun and fitness options. Amberwood Village Golf and Country Club invites nonmembers to play its 18-hole course and enjoy its many amenities, including a pool, tennis facilities, club house and pro shop. Drop in at Stittsville Public Library for a good read or to enjoy one of its many youth or adult programs. The kid-oriented Books and Bricks program combines Lego building and reading, while babies and toddlers share storytime, songs and rhymes. Wii competitions, guest speakers and craft classes spark imagination and interaction.
Walk back in time to discover the Stittsville of yesteryear at Goulbourn Museum. The interactive, hands-on museum pays tribute to the region's history with exhibits, workshops and programs designed for all ages. The museum's 100th Regiment of Foot exhibit tells the story of village founders. At the Village Store, children enjoy dressing in pioneer apparel and bartering for goods. The History Center facilitates local history and genealogical research. Museum hours are from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
