Siberian Tiger Habitat: Russian Far East and Beyond

The Siberian (Amur) tiger primarily inhabits the coniferous forests of Russia's Far East—from the Amur River basin to the Sikhote-Alin mountains. This taiga and mixed-forest biome provides cover, prey (deer, boar), and harsh winters the subspecies is uniquely adapted to.

Historically, their range extended into northeastern China, North Korea, and Mongolia, but those populations are now tiny and fragmented due to habitat loss and poaching. Conservation efforts focus on the Russian stronghold, where perhaps 500–600 individuals survive.
